I don’t know about you but there are some restaurants I like to visit with the other half (mainly because he’s picky as hell) and some that I save for dates with my girlfriends. The Giggling Squid in Harrogate is one of those venues and I cant recommend it enough.
From the gorgeous décor to the spot on service and tastiest cocktails, The Giggling Squid is a must try restaurant in Harrogate. It also forms part of my Vegan restaurants blog because of the huge selection on vegetarian and vegan options on offer.
The styling of the dishes is impeccable and very insta-worthy. We even got to sit at one of the special tables which are like birdcages lol. I’m not sure that’s what they are supposed to look like but that’s what I see in my head.
What We Ate
We had prawn crackers to start (£3.95) that came with a spicy sweet chilli dip.
For mains we tried the Chicken Paneang (£13.50) and the Sticky Chicken (£14.50) with sticky rice sides (£3.75). There was plenty of rice, we could have easily have shared a portion and we wish we had because we couldn’t finish it all.
Don’t worry if you’re not familiar with Thai food, the staff are very knowledgeable and happy to explain any dishes and help you choose.
Obviously not being able to finish our mains didn’t stop us from taking down a dessert therefore opted for the Sweet Heavens Above Trio (£7.75). Three miniature desserts if you can’t decide what to go for and perfect to share.
The cocktails were on a 2 for 1 offer when we visited. Always check their socials and website as they often have different offers available depending on the time of year.
I always check out the kids menus when I’m trying somewhere new and it looks incredible. It would definitely suit kids with a more adventurous appetite than Izzy – Not a chicken nugget in sight which is so refreshing. They can get 2 small plates for £7.99 which includes a portion of rice. I think I’ll be adding this to my list of Places to Eat with Kids in Harrogate.
If you’ve been in touch recently for recommendations of places to eat in Harrogate this will definitely have been on my list. Have you been? What did you think?
