Where is the Best Afternoon Tea in Harrogate?

Mama Doreen’s is possibly the most instagrammable place to eat in Harrogate? and definitely the girliest!

[Updated May 2024] If you’ve followed us for a while you’ll know that Izzy isn’t a girly girl but she loves a visit to Mama Doreen’s. She had her birthday party there a few years ago when it was located on Cold Bath Road but now it’s in a new town centre location that’s perfect for coffee and cake after a shopping trip or for a grown up afternoon tea with cocktails.

Mama Doreen’s is somewhere you will definitely need to book in advance but it’s worth it. (Weekends can be fully booked up to 8 weeks in advance).

They offer everything from breakfast and brunch, to the fanciest afternoon teas and cocktails. Keep an eye out for their seasonal specials too. Some of these pictures were taken during their ‘Summer of Cake’ special afternoon tea. Their recent Barbie afternoon tea was a HUGE success as was the Wonka themed afternoon tea they brought out in time for the film premier.

And worst case if you can’t get booked in, they offer a takeaway service too.

If you have any Disney fans in the house they regularly hold Disney sing along brunches and in the countdown to Christmas there are festive sing-a-longs too. I also hear ‘Swifties’ might like some of their special sing-a-longs. Check out the dates here.

So how much is Mama Doreen’s?

Their afternoon tea costs £25.95 or £30.95 with a glass of Prosecco. Senior citizens can enjoy smaller portions for £16.50 and children’s afternoon teas from £13.75 which includes a sweetie bag to take home, just in case they haven’t had enough sugar!

Mama Doreen’s is definitely becoming THE place to have a baby shower in Harrogate or an indulgent birthday party. In my opinion it’s the one place in Harrogate that rivals Bettys.

On our latest visit to Mama Doreen’s in Harrogate we enjoyed another afternoon tea each. Izzy was super excited because the kids afternoon teas are now ‘Princess’ or ‘Football’ themed! Of course she bucked the girly trend and opted for the football themed afternoon tea.
