How to Save Money on UK Days Out

Everyone has heard of a National Trust membership and English Heritage but have you heard of Historic Houses?

If you follow us on Instagram you will know I rave about this membership so much and just to be clear, this isn’t an ad or affiliation, Historic Houses have no clue who I am! I just love what they provide and don’t think people know how much money it could save them.

When I looked at a National Trust membership I realised there were only 2 or 3 places that Izzy and I would go, and with English Heritage there are some great places but non close to Harrogate so that’s how I cam across Historic Houses.

My savings are based on days out in Harrogate and the surrounding areas but it should give you an idea as to what savings there are to be had. If you’re not local I suggest popping onto their website and seeing what places are covered near you.

In a typical year Izzy and I will visit (costs shown are for 1 adult and 1 child):

Harewood House £26.40

Newby Hall – £45.00

Ripley Castle  – £19.00

Bolton Castle – £21.50

That totals £111.90 for 4 days out for the two of us!

An Historic Houses membership for 1 adult, 1 child is £86 and that allows us to visit multiple times in a year, as well as any other places that they cover like Temple Newsom and Allerton Park for example.

Its a no-brainer in my opinion. So before you head off on some fantastic days out with the kids this year, head to their website and see if it can save you money like it saved us.
