Do you love a good brunch? Want stacks of fluffy pancakes? Or perfectly cooked poached eggs? Whether it’s a boozy one with friends or just a chance to catch up with the other half after a long week; these tried and tested brunch venues in Harrogate are perfect!
I will always opt for eggs royale if it’s on the menu #smokedsalmonismyfavourite, so like I did with beef dinners on my Sunday Lunch blog, I’ll try and include prices for eggs royale (or the nearest equivalent on the menu) just to help you gauge costs at each Harrogate brunch venue listed. *Spoiler…they range from £7.50 to £17.50!!
The Wild Plum
Where?: 34 Hookstone Road, Harrogate, HG2 8BW (Above Snooty Frox)
One of my absolute faves for brunch in Harrogate! The Wild Plum has a constantly changing menu ranging from the most incredible waffles and pancakes to eggs ‘any style’ on toast, you won’t find prettier plates of food anywhere else in Harrogate.
They are always super busy and there are no bookings taken so be prepared to queue outside if you go at peak times (It’s worth the wait though!).
Price?: Eggs ‘your way’ on sourdough toast (£9.50) with added smoked salmon (£5.00). This is as near as I can get for a price comparison lol!
Crema Coffee Harrogate
Where?: 3 Royal Parade, HG1 2SZ (on the Crown hotel roundabout)
From the guys who brought you Brew Bar coffee shop, their new town centre venture ‘Crema Coffee’ is proving even more popular. With gorgeous interiors and a great location, it was always going to be a success.
They have plenty of brunch and light lunch options available and are perfectly situated for exploring Harrogate, Bettys is just up the hill and the Pump room Museum is opposite.
Price?: Eggs Royale £12.50
The Ivy Harrogate
Where?: 7-9 Parliament Street, HG1 2QU (a few doors down from Bettys)
The Ivy‘s brunch menu is only available on weekends and bank holidays (11am-4pm) but they do have a breakfast menu that runs Mon-Fri till 11:30am and Sat-Sun till 11am. If you don’t mind eating a little earlier I think the breakfast menu sounds the nicest.
Prices?: Eggs royale £12.50 (breakfast menu), £17.50 (brunch menu…because it comes with chips!).
Farmhouse
Where?: Westgate House, Station Parade, HG1 1HQ (next to Everyman cinema)
These guys have done so well they’ve just opened a second outlet in Leeds! Farmhouse have a great menu that caters for everyone young or old, meat eater, vegan, veggie or gluten free.
Their breakfasts are served all day, every day which is perfect…I think more places should offer this because some days you just want a full English at 4pm!
Prices?: Eggs Royale, served on sourdough crumpets £12.50
Hoxton North
Where?: 1a Royal Parade, HG1 2SZ (on the Crown roundabout)
Hoxton North have been around forever (2013 actually but that’s good going in todays climate) which means they must be doing something right!
They have a classic brunch menu with a few twists thrown in available 9am-4pm every day.
Prices?: Eggs Royale served on toasted brioche £11.50
Bettys
Where?: Parliament Street, HG1 2QU (opposite the Cenotaph)
I’m sorry! I know! Bettys is in almost every blog post I write. 2 reasons:
1: You might only ever read one of my posts so you need to know about Bettys (if you don’t already) and 2: It’s one of the reasons Harrogate is famous and, even as a local, I bloody love it there! That’s also one of the reasons I wrote: Bored of Bettys? so people don’t think I’m on some sort of commission haha!
Prices?: Eggs royale £12.25 But if they have the smoked salmon rosti on the specials, that is my absolute No1 recommendation.
Baltzersen’s
Where?: 22 Oxford Street, HG1 1PU
If you’re looking for brunch in Harrogate but with a Scandinavian twist, this town centre café is a must visit.
Baltzersen’s waffles are incredible and come with all sorts of toppings. A big hit with kids and grown ups alike. I would actually go with their waffles over smoked salmon and that’s saying something lol!
Prices?: The nearest I can compare is their Gravalaks on rosti at £14.95
Weetons
Where?: Leeds Road, Pannal, HG3 1EW (The old Crimple site)
With a large garden centre, beautiful interiors section and huge food hall you can make it a morning out at Weetons home and garden centre. They also have a venue on West Park in town too but I prefer this one because of the easy parking.. is that showing my age? They are also featured in the Best Farm Shops blog if you want to read more.
Another place that offers all day breakfasts!
Prices?: Eggs Royale on toasted sourdough £12.50
All Bar One
Where?: Parliament Street, HG1 2QU (just down the hill from Bettys and The Ivy)
I always try and feature independents on my blog but All Bar One needs a mention because it’s one of our go-to brunch venues. If you can get a seat in the window it’s the perfect place to people watch too.
2 for £14 brunch dishes are served every day until 12 noon.
Prices?: This is the best value by far, with 2 brunch items including eggs royale for £15! (£9.95 if ordered individually).
Fodder
Where?: Yorkshire Showground, HG2 8NZ
Fodder has the best food hall! We are always in there to top up on our Yorkshire Pasta and ‘Harrogate Blue’ cheese. When you eat here you know you’re getting the best local ingredients with low food miles. Their sausages are to die for.
Their breakfast menu is served until 11:30am.
Prices?: The closest I can compare to is smoked salmon with poached eggs on a muffin at £13.00
Hopefully that’s given you plenty to choose from; I’ve tried to include some town centre locations as well as places on the outskirts but with easy parking.
Still not sure where to go for brunch in Harrogate? My highlights and biggest recommendations have to be: Anything from the Wild Plum and waffles from Baltzersen’s.
As always let me know how you get on, or if I’ve missed somewhere that you love.
