With an expansive adventure playground, boating lake, miniature railway and beautiful gardens, Newby Hall in Ripon has been a staple day out for us for since Izzy was tiny although we feel it has become a bit pricey in recent years so we tend to just buy a ‘gardens’ ticket. (See below).
That being said you can easily spend a full day here. Make sure you check out the dolls house exhibition and the bear house too which are both covered in the gardens ticket. The bear house is Gyles Brandreths private collection of teddies!
There is a lovely café serving hot and cold food and children’s snack boxes, with places to sit inside and out if you time the weather right.
The playground has something from all ages from ziplines for the older kids to a sandpit and swings for the smaller children.
If you are visiting in the height of summer make sure you take a swimwear and a towel for the kids so they can play in the ‘Tarantella’ dancing water fountains. But also remember lots of sunscreen as there aren’t many shady areas around this part of the garden.
