A Blooming Lovely Day Out at Yorkshire Lavender

If you’re looking for a picture-perfect day out that’s bursting with colour, scent, and views for days, then Yorkshire Lavender is just the ticket!

Just under an hour’s drive from Harrogate and nestled in the rolling Howardian Hills near Castle Howard, this family-run lavender farm is a feast for the senses, a total must-visit if you’re in North Yorkshire this summer.

Lavender Fields Forever

The real showstopper here is, of course, the lavender. Imagine rows upon rows of vibrant purple stretching across the hills, bees lazily buzzing by, it’s like stepping into a postcard.

The best time to catch the lavender in full bloom is usually mid-June to early August, so plan your visit while it’s at its peak!

Families will love the open space, and the kids can run around to their hearts’ content. There’s a small play area and sand pit on site too.

Fun for All Ages

It’s not just about the lavender – Yorkshire Lavender has something for everyone. Little ones can enjoy the play area, a lavender maze, and the fun ‘Wibbly Wobbly Walk’, perfect for burning off some post-picnic energy.

Adults (and curious kids!) can explore the lavender wall, herb gardens, and sculpture walk, all dotted with quirky touches and beautiful photo spots. There’s even a sensory garden designed to soothe and inspire; a quiet, calming space that feels like your own secret corner of the world.

Lavender Tea & Treats

No day out is complete without something tasty, and the EJ’s Tea Room has got you covered. You’ll find everything from lavender scones with cream and jam to homemade cakes and hearty lunches. The view from the terrace is glorious on a sunny day, and the relaxed vibe makes it a perfect pit stop.

Shop ‘Til You Lavender Drop

Before you leave, pop into the gift shop where you can stock up on all things lavender, from essential oils and handmade soaps to lavender-infused chocolate and cute souvenirs. It’s the perfect place to pick up a little piece of summer to take home.

Plan Your Visit

Yorkshire Lavender is open seasonally from spring through autumn, so be sure to check their website or social media for up-to-date opening times and bloom reports. (These photos were taken on our visit in late June)

Whether you’re planning a wholesome family day out or a romantic stroll through the purple haze with your partner, Yorkshire Lavender is a blooming brilliant escape that’s guaranteed to lift your spirits.

Admission prices vary depending on the time of year but at peak time it was £7 per adult and £5 for children.
